This is a short (5 min) explainer video I wrote, designed and developed for an internal learning project on one of Refinitiv’s Cloud-based products.

The purpose of the explainer is to provide a very simplified overview of Web APIs, what they do and how they work:

I used a couple of examples from the Internet, namely Rightmove’s API, where it scrapes information from estate agent websites and presents the information on an interactive Google map.

This animation was developed in Captivate, using their video capture tools for the demonstrations. I also animated stock illustrations to provide a visual explanation for the basic principles of Web API.
