As we went into lockdown the business need arose to pivot our classroom-based learning to digital learning as quickly as possible. We were required to digitise a number of a classroom events very quickly over six months. Here are two highlights.
The Commercial Leadership course was a one-week classroom-based course that was urgently required to pivot to digital learning. I worked with a team of stakeholders who represented the key areas of commercial practice at the organisation to define the core learning areas (working through around 200 slides) and created a comprehensive blended programme that combined digital learning (videos, articles and knowledge checks) with short, one-hour virtual workshops with senior programme managers, where they were encouraged to bring their experience and expertise to share with others in the session.
The overall feedback was excellent from both stakeholders and participants. The financial and logistical burden of organising venues and consultants’ time away from clients was minimised and contributed significantly to saving costs.
Management Essentials was a digital-only set of resources that guided new managers through the tasks, behaviours and processes that they would encounter as managers, from onboarding a new hire to performance reviews, conducting difficult conversations and offboarding employees.
The digital learning was complemented by a half-day virtual classroom that allowed learners to interact with expert practitioners and work through some real-life scenarios using the digital learning resources.
