We’ve moved on to Week 4 – curation. Now this is a funny one because I’ve been blogging since <checks archive> 2002, when I used a blog to store information on HTML coding and web design principles.

So, here’s the question for this entry:

Make some notes in your chosen portfolio tool covering:

  • your experience of curation to date (if any)
  • any plans for social or personal open curation and your intended outcome(s) (e.g. identity development; information archiving; providing useful resources for your learners (if relevant), effecting social or educational change; contributing to an open pedagogy strategy or a critical digital pedagogy approach)
  • any ways in which studying this week’s H880 materials on curation have influenced your plans.

You should allocate about 200 words* to this task.

Note: if anybody thinks I mutter, “Oh DO f*************” when I see a question that is almost as long as the word count, you’re right.

My experience of curation to date

It’s sort-of part of my job. I have to check, curate and manage content for a social learning platform as part of the learning experience design. I think that probably answers the second question.

Any ways in which studying this week’s materials have influenced my plans.

I’m a sucker for a new shiny web tool, so I tried a couple of curation tools and decided that WordPress is better. Still, it’s always good to look at how other people see it.
