This portfolio entry is focused on your feelings about the prospect of observing a TEL educator for TMA 03 and about teaching observations more generally. As usual, the portfolio task is intended as a prompt for writing a professional/personal development narrative that can be used for:
tracking any changes in your attitudes, understanding or practice
identifying aspects of your practice that could be the focus of future development or evaluation
identifying priority skills development areas
supporting a case for professional recognition
demonstrating your skills as a reflective practitioner
the reflection component of TMA 03.
When writing the entry you may wish to draw on/use extracts from posts you’ve made to the Comments and Discussion areas in the ‘Observing TEL Teaching Practice’ section of this course.

I’m conflicted here, because I’m in a mostly informal workplace learning context. We don’t use observation because our learning is mostly informal or just-in-time learning. Our learning events tend to be subject-specific workshops where the trainers are assessed by their management. My role is to design the online learning space, which is more skills-specific.
I can use the rubrics we come up with to assess my own design work. When we come to do the big transformation piece, I can see how these guidelines would be useful for assessing and redesigning learning plan.
